We submitted our NZ Residency applications back in July and didn’t hear much from them until just recently. I was asked to submit my Birth Certificate again and then today we got a very exciting letter. It said they were approving our NZ Residency application in principle – we just need to drop our passports off (and pay yet another fee!) and we will get the NZ Resident status we have been waiting for for so long. So at lunchtime, Candi and Sophie took a trip into town and we all went to the NZIS office to drop off our UK passports.

The pre-Xmas cutoff is only 5 days away, so based on that we’re hoping to get our passports processed and returned to us before the Xmas break. It hasn’t quite sunk it yet – but it’s dawning on us that there’s a real possibility we could be officially Kiwi before Christmas!

Watch this space – we’ll announce any progress here!
