Last weekend we took the 3 hour ferry ride to Picton and spent a long weekend on the South Island. We stayed in a great bach in Belvue Bay and our friend Graham travelled up from Christchurch and spent the weekend with us.
We were in a great spot, just off Queen Charlotte Drive and within easy reach of Havelock, the Marlborough wine region and Anakiwa. It’s also pretty scenic round there…
Well OK, very scenic.
The weather was kind to us and we saw some stunning places, including a campsite, right on a beach.
We had a great time and didn’t want our little holiday to end. The ferry journey home was surprisingly smooth, considering how windy it was (I went outside to take pictures and was worried the camera was going to get blown overboard!).
A selection of the best pictures from the weekend are on Flickr. Comments welcome, as always.

Hey Ross and Candi - and Sophie
Love the photos, and the sea on the crossing does look a litle lively! Great scenery - pity their boat wasn’t in commission tho, you’ll have to go later on the summer. We are loving the regular Skype conversations, especially as we can see our cute little granddaughter changing every week. Bit of a handful eh?
We are so looking forward to seeing you folks early next year - can’t wait! Let’s hope the weather isn’t too much of a shock to you. It was -5degrees last night where we are!!!
Love
