Maori carving at Levin

We woke up to the sound of rain coming down which to be honest, sounded rather lovely. We looked out the window only to find our beautiful mountains covered in mist. How beautiful . . . ?

Ross had an interview at 10.00 so Sophie, Susanne and I started to get all the bits ready for our road trip to the bach on the coast….aaah the coast ;)

We finally left around 13:00 and drove for a while before stopping off in Raumati Beach for a lovely brunch. After a few scratch cards bought (with the pokie winnings) we ate, drank and then set off on the road again. We went on a scenic trip along the Kapiti coast that took us through a lovely town called Paraparaumu, which is still commutable to Wellington. What a wonderful 60 minute commute that would be hey ?!?

Anyhow, this is putting the apple before the cart and all that good stuff.

Sophie is getting bigger every day and is back to sticking her tongue out and raspberry blowing and less of the waving hello and goodbye and also less of the ‘lalalalala’ with the tongue sticking out so lord only knows what she will be doing when we get back. She is also stopped standing on her toes as much and now sometimes stands flat footed. Oh, and she eats ice-cream now too. And LOVES it!!!

The bach was wonderful and yet again the Schaff-Edes looked after us like royalty. We stayed at their friends bach which was about 2 blocks from the beach. When we arrived we went down to the beach and the sand was literally blowing horrizontally and there were these weird tumble weed type things blowing along the sand (Ross filmed it so I will see if he can upload it). Ross, Joe and Susanne then went for a swim as the sun was out and the water was apparently really warm (I took their word for it!), they even got the Boogie boards out. We then went back to the bach and had fish and chips for dinner and Kumara (sweetpotato) chips too.

After a really peaceful sleep we awoke with Sophie in our bed again (how did that happen ;) ), we all got freshened up and headed to the local cafe for breakfast. The lady was rather moody but hey, it’s the first moody Kiwi we’ve met. Needless to say we all chomped down on some cremated bacon (thanks Joe for asking for crispy bacon - I think she was trying to proove a point hehehe) and drank some rather strong coffees. Are Latte’s really supposed to be that dark?!? Anyhow, we then headed back to Wellington, stopping along the way to get an icecream, and for Sophie to eat some too (she’s so cute when she does).

We then got back unpacked the car and then Susanne and I left Sophie and the boys to it and went into Petone to the craft fair. It was cool, loads of stalls with everything from vintage clothing to pot plants to jewellery to chicken satays. You name it, they would have had it. After that we went for a swifty in the Speights Ale House and then on the Pak and Save before heading home.

Susanne cooked us a lovely meal and Ross later got them all sorted out with Netgear and their wireless router. Well done Ross!!!

Anyhow, time for bed.
