Sophie was up at 06:40 today and she obviously thought this was a great time to be up, so she woke us up too. Thanks, Sophie! I was allowed to have a bit of a lie-in and Mum brought Sophie back to join me after she had breakfast - poor thing was tired - so we both slept until about 10:45.

The weather was great again, so we decided to go for a walk down at the bottom of the Hutt valley. After about 15 minutes of struggling to get the pushchair (stroller) down the narrow gravel path, we had to admit defeat and go back. We reckon if we had one of those rucksack style baby carriers, we would have been ok. It was a shame because it was such a quiet spot, it really felt like we were in the middle of nowhere when in reality we were only a couple of minutes away from civilisation.

After a spot of lunch, we went to the local (indoor, heated) swimming pool where Sophie had a great time bobbing around in her swimming costume with the floats in it. She has just started waving at everyone, so you can imagine how much splashing she was doing! There were loads of other kids with their mums there. She had a fantastic time and was pretty tired by the time we left.

Joe came home from work and took us to the Petone Club - a bit like a working mens’ club in the UK, but more modern. We all ordered steak which was really nice and fantastically cheap. Sophie came with us and stayed up past her bedtime, but she was really good and didn’t get cranky. Candi played the ‘pokies’ (fruit machines / one-armed bandits) and won $85, which was pretty good. What was even better was that she walked away and didn’t put it back in the machines. We came home and gave Sophie a bottle - she went straight to sleep and has been really good and slept soundly (so far!).

Tomorrow, Joe has the day off and we are all heading up the coast to another bach for the weekend. Should be good, hope the weather is nice! We probably won’t get a chance to update this blog for a few days, we will write about what we get up to when we get back. Keep checking for updates, or better still, subscribe to the RSS feed using an RSS reader and you will know when we are back online.
