Up at 8am today - thanks to Sophie for the alarm call! She has been as good as gold on this trip (well, most of the time) and has only been grumpy when we have kept her in her car seat for too long or not let her sleep when she was due for a nap.
We looked at some ‘open’ houses yesterday and got a bit of an idea of how much we could get for our money. Surprisingly (we thought) houses on the hillside are cheaper than those on the valley floor. Despite the fact that there are better schools, it is less crowded and of course you have much better views up on the hills. It’s a strange situation, but I suppose the downside is that you are not as close to the main shops or train stations.
We had another BBQ last night and I took some pics of the sunset which I have uploaded. I also took a few more pics this morning - there was no wind and the water in the harbour was flat like glass. Shame the sun wasn’t out or it would have been even better.
Joe was back to work today (at the Ministry of Education) and I was back to the serious business of finding a job myself. Turns out he knows the lady in HR at the Ministry that I was emailing and we have arranged to meet later in the week. I also have a few more ‘irons in the fire’ but can’t say too much at this stage. Stay tuned ![]()

Hi guys!
We didn’t get a chnace to read your blogs over the weekend as we were doing some decorating in the kitchen and conservatory. So it was lovely to catch up and read THREE DAYS worth of blogs this morning!
As Norman says its early days and so it is still all about just taking it all in and seeing what jobs might be available, what houses you can get, where are the places to live, what’s the shopping like, what kind of life can you have there etc etc. Let it all wash over you and wait till you get back and think about it as a whole before you commit to anything that after all, may change your life!
We are missing you all too, and it is great to keep in touch this way, especially seeing the photos as well as reading the blog. Lots of love to you all from
Nanna and Pops
and Maxie and Minnie!
